Size Matters - I Like My Smaller One

Hey guys, I had a 3X9 "El Chepo" Tasco scope on the X7.It worked fine and held up perfectly for a little over 100 shots so far, butI just didn't like the looks or feel of that big scope on the trim little X7.

Anew SimmonsProDiamond 4X shotgun scope arrived from Natchez Shooters Supply this week and I immediately put it on the X7. I like it much better and gained a whole bunchof eye relief.

What do you think?

I like the looks of the Simmons better. That old Tasco looks like a ball bat on that X7.......

And by the way, I was glad you were talking about scopes.

No contest, the Simmons fits the gun much better. Looks like a good rig.

Nice looking outfit. I happen to like those little Simmons 4x scopes. They work real good so far for me...

Eye relief is important with that light little gun. Nice looking set up

I agree - the Simmons looks much better. Now we have to see how it shoots without any operator error.

:D:DWithout operator error?? :DWell bronko, you may have to wait a looonng time for that. If you've seen my post "A Hunting Load For The Omega X7" you already knowI've got it shooting well enough for me. But you have to understand, I don't just post my goodtargets, I post the bad ones too.

Semi - maybe you might want to get a hold of some of Mountaindevil's recycled patches to clean that bore with...:D

Guess I'm the odd ball. Looks wise I like the Tasco better. However, shooting I might would like the Simmons better. Not sure I like being able to zoom in. Is that the Tasco Buck Sight? If so that's what I have on my Marlin muzzle loader. Looks identical.

That's a sweet looking gun though. I bet you love it. Am I right? I really like the looks of that thing.

Hey hometheaterman, the Tasco is indeed the "Bucksight" model. Yep, I do love that little gun. I wish I could lend you the 4X Simmons to mount on your gun for one range session. I think you would be impressed.

I think I more than likely would too. I've never had a fixed 4x scope. Well, I take that back I have on a pellet gun but never on a regular gun. I've gotten used to zooming in but I think that if I shot it a bit to get used to it I'd like the 4x just as much if not more. I have that Tasco on my Marlin muzzle loader and I put a Leupold VX-1 I had as a spare on my new Remington Genesis. Both are 3x9. The my other two rifles that have scopes also all have 3x9's. One is a Simmons and one a Burris. So as you can tell most of what I have is 3x9's. I like them but I think if I had a fixed lower power scope I'd like it a lot too. As long as I'm not taking 2-400 yard shots which is when I zoom in. I shot a deer this year with my rifle at around 150 yards and had my scope on 5x and it did just fine.

Is the X7 Omega a new model? I don't see it listed in the catalog. And I didn't a hammer either.

It's listed in the Special Models section of their web page.

The Simmons definitely looks better, but a 2x7 Leupold would look better still. :D

Just remember though, you only have to please one person with that thing. :D

I have a 2x7 Loopy on my Browning 1885 45-70. Great Scope. It's 11" long. I almost switched it to the X7. The Simmons is 9 1/2 inches.

EDIT: How the heck did you put that on MY gun UC??? It seems to me that you have to send me that scope now. :D

Semisane,

Did you have to put high rings on there for hammer clearance, or do those just fit your eye better ?

Semisane 01-15-2009 03:56 PM

RE: Size Matters - I Like My Smaller One

They happened to be the only rings I had in the "possibles closet" so that's what I used. Turns out they are just right for me.
