Opinions/Experience with Win magnum #11

I'm getting down to my last tin of #11's so while at Walmart last night I noticed they had a bunch of Winchester magnum #11's for half price ($3). I've not used these before so I thought I would buy 1 tin to try them out.

I'm sure someone on here has tried them so I want to know the good the bad and the ugly about them. If the consensis is good I will go back and get some more.

Thanks for any insight provided.

I have a little work with them, I have not shot any loads with them.

side by side with cci mag they look the same (both the tin and caps themselves)

popped some though an gun as while cci mag. the burn marks looked the same.

that is about the best testing I was able to do, I do not own an chrony.

I have a couple of tins of them I use them with 777 in my caplock. If I use pyrodex then I stick with remington#11's. I think the magnums are a little hotter because sometimes with other caps i would get a hangfire using 777 but not with the magnums. I don't know much else. They work for me is all i know.

I've used them and in fact bought another thing as I saw them on sale at Wal-Mart for $4.50. The only others I've used on my muzzle loader that uses #11 caps is Remingtons and I've had several mis fires with them. I've never had one to my knowledge with the Winchester. However, I figured out that once I clean it I need to fire a few caps through it before loading it up. If I do that I've had good luck with both the Remingtons and the Winchesters. Not sure I've ever tried the Winchesters without doing that after figuring out that was my problem with the Remingtons. I have a Marlin 50 caliber muzzle loader I'm shooting them in and they work just fine. I like them.

You can save yourself some grief (sometimes) by inspecting the interior of caps and throwing away those that look odd or do not have a coating of priming agent consistent with the rest. Perhaps it's more trouble than its worth for range use but not for hunting.

Thanks for the replies and insight.

UC, I hadn't thought of that but it makes sense. Thanks for the suggestion.
