Just lovely weather for ML hunting

Lets see. Friday snow was packed solid and encrusted with ice so you couldn't walk on it.Almost went on my a**a few times.Saturday it poured rain and melted most of the snow on the south slopes. Monday was gorgeous. Was out from before light till dark, saw one deer. Way too far for a shot with the FL. It was a big deer but not sure if it was a buck or doe anyway. (Can't shoot a buck - already tagged one). Tuesday nice but howling wind - no deer moving. Today blowing snow. 20 mph winds with gusts to 40 mph. But I tried going out. Also trying to fight off a bug. I lasted about an hour, got a teriffic headache and spewed my morning's oatmeal on the new fallen snow. That sucks. Going to rest the rest of the day and try again tomorrow. Wind is suppose to die down and the sun coming out.

Its memories like spraying the snow that make hunting so special to all of us.. :D Been there done that and have the T-shirt. Although mine was self induced. [&o]

We had -11ยบ this morning, but its warmed up to 4 above and sunny, so I think I will go out and do some shooting this afternoon.

Well, the leaves are starting to fall from the Maple tree in my back yard. So I guess winter is here. Right now it's 72 degrees, sunny, with a light Northerly breeze. :)

Good Lord Semi - If Dave and I came down to hunt with you we would be in our T shirts and still sweating our butts off. I thought I was having it rough with 25* and 40 mph winds - He has WARMED UP to 4*.
Sometimes I miss my Florida home (don't tell my wife). But then I snap back to reality and look out my window at the hardwood mountain sides.

Hey bronko, I have a couple of box stands that are 4 x 4' plywood boxes, 6' tall with a tin roof and window openings about 18" wide and 10" high. They are painted olive drab. There have been a few times on warmdays whenthe sun wason that box that I've stripped off all my clothes except my tighty whitees, and was still a little warm. Ya` just feel silly hunting in your underwear. :D

Doesn't everyone bring a small ice chest to the stand for cold drinks and lunch????

Semisane, don't forget to tell them about the mosquitos although I'd imagine that they are probably not too bad this time of year. :)

I was shootingat a doe about two weeks ago. A skeeter flew by just as I shot and took the bullet right in the thorax. Killed it dead, but I didn't get a pass through.
