Load suggestions for .54 cal inline

Hello, this is my first post. I am hoping that some of you might be able to point me in the right direction as far as a good load for my first ML. I justordered a .54 cal Knight Disc Elite from Green Mountain Rifle Barrels. It is the stainless model with a 26" barrel and a 1:28 twist. I will be hunting mule deer and elk in Utah.

Right now I am leaning towards trying both a Hornady XTP andBarnes Expander MZ, but I am open to suggestions. I am hoping to shoot BH209 as well.

Thanks for any help you can give me!

I was under the impression that was a conical shooting rifle. But I would try 100 grains of powder and about anything I could put down it. There are some others on a different forum that shoot this rifle. I am not sure what they are using for loads.

1:28, I would shoot the 325g version of the Barnes Expander, there is also the 275g:

That is an excellent STRONG bullet, great expansion, great penetration, always shoot thru, no weight loss. Bryce Towsley calls the expander the "perfect" ML bullet, cause it expands at low velocity and doesn't fragment on close shots when your a near 2000 fps. I have a Green Mountain Carbine for my Flintlock, and I shoot Sabots with Speer Gold Dots in it. You might want to try a Speer Gold dot .500

Barnes XPB:

Another good bullet:

as for Sabot to fit these:

To shoot 45 Cal bullets in the 54 (why would you do that if you bought a 54?), Harvester sells some:

Thanks for the help, but it looks like their was a typo on Green Mountains web site. They only offer the rifle with a 20" barrel and not a 26". I decided to cancel my order and keep on searching. Thanks for the help though.

I bought the 21" carbine for my Flintlock, very nice and short, easy to carry in the woods when on deer drives, shoot 100 yards no problem with open sights supplied with the Barrel. If you gonna shoot 200 yards you need the longer barrel. Chap
