50/44 sabots

Currently use the Harvester green crushed ribbed sabot in my 50 cal. omega. Does anyone know what would be the next thickest 50/44 sabot? Would you know how much thicker?

My guess would be Harvester's standard black 50/44 sabot.

I really do not know if there is a thinner sabot then the Harvester Crushed Rib. You might try going from say a .430 bullet to a .429 like a Speer Gold Dot, this might reduce the overall thickness of the combination.

On Modern Muzzleloader Forum they have a post on all of this...

this might help. Also if you can find Sabotloader, he might be able to help as well. I am guessing your combination is too tight? Yes, they show going to a small projectile will slightly reduce the over all thickness..

Thanks cayugad. I'm going to edit my original post. What I ment was, if the CR is the thinnest, what would be the next thickest size.
What I'm leadingto is the green CR and a .430 xtp fit nice in my Omega over 777. Very accurate.Bought some B209 and read the threads stateing it needs a tight fitting sabot to work right. So,,,,if the CR is not tight enough, looking for next size up.

Have you tried .50/.45 sabots? For some reason, I seem to have better accuracy with thinner to bore sabots.

There really are not many options in a 44 cal sabot. The Harvester Crush rib being the thinnest. The next thicker one up would be the Harvester Regular 44/50 cal sabot follwed by the MMP HPH-.429/.430-50 green sabot.

Since I do not use 44 cal bullets, i do shoot an Omega, but I really can not tell you how they will fit the barrel.

Yea, I get great accuracy with a .452 300gr xtp in a MMP 3petal ez sabot. But for some reason I just felt that I didn't need all that much bullet. I hunt primarily from tree stands and over a lot of briar holes. It's amazing to watch those deer walk through a brier hole and not make a peep. Sometimes I twist myself in a shooting position that I wouldn't really recomend, especially at the height that I hunt at. The .430 240gr bullet does the job and the recoil is minimal.
