Hello All

I got my BH209 at a local gun shop it was $37.93 including sales tax. I like Powder Valley, and have ordered over $1200 of powder and primers from them in the last 2 yrs. I choose to do business locally on BH209 because I wanted to try it and couldn't justify the "Hazmat Tax" on a small order. Besides the local Shooting Shed has been a little slow so it helps my local business, I also like doing business with him. I will be placing a large order with Powder Valley before New years and that will make the "Hazmat Tax" not so bad.

I converted my Knight T-bolt to 209 primers , had to make a bushsing to hold the primer in the breech plug. Also modifide the plunger/striker of the conversion so that it didn't pierce the primer cup. Also reduced the diameter of the Striker, so the bushing would hold the primer cup from backing out of the 209 primer. Now I have 100% ignition and havn't had a misfire or hangfire since the lathe work.

I have 21.75" of barrel from the BP face to the crown. 80G of BH 209 gives me 1620 FPS w/ either a 250g XTP or SST in a MMP Sabot. 100G gives me 1766 FPS, with the same Bullet and Sabot. This is 150 to 175 fps faster than Pyrodex RS does out of the same gun. Using the GCR sabot and a Speer swaged 240g pill I get 1580 FPS. Using the MMP sabots at 50 yrds three shots always touch, the Best I can get out of the GCR is just shy of 1.5" . I harvested 2 deer with the speer swaged 240g GCR sabot 80g of BH209 this fall, complete pass threws . The GCR Sabots were left overs from 3 yrs. ago trying to get a Beartooth Magnum to shoot acrately again after it had see over 1500 Conicals with 80g of RS. I normaly hunt with my oun cast REAL Bullets or My Cast Maxi Balls. 80G of powder.

I will never go Back to Pyrodex in my 209 BP guns! But I will own a Savage 10ML-II before Spring!

By the Way, Smokless powder Is the Origonal Black Powder Sub!!!!!

I was wondering where you folks buy your blackhorn pwd. I saw it on powder valley and its 25.98 for a 10oz can. Whew kinda steep? Can it be found cheaper anywhere else?
I think I paid $38 or $39 for mine, so that is cheap. Chap

Hey gregrn43, do you already use Blackhorn? If so, is this stuff the real deal? I recently got a Prohunter and was thinking about trying the Blackhorn.
