First One with The Muzzleloader
 

The season is just about over; I couldn't get one with my bow, and I didn't get one with my shotgun. Finally, I was able to take a small buck with my muzzleloader. It's my first deer with a firearm, and it took sitting out in the rain and snow all week until the right moment came. My sense of frustration and disappointment was quicky wiped out.

nice doe.. congratulations. What kind of rifle were you shooting.. what load? How far away was the deer? How did the bullet perform for you?

Nice doe!. I just have had my MZ for around two years. I'm 4 deer for 4 shots now. I may never buy another shotgun slug from now on.

I was shooting a Knight Long Range Hunter, with 100gr of Triple Se7en, and a Hornady .50 cal 250 gr bullet with sabot. I was very fortunate in that the deer came into the field and headed right towards me. It stopped about twenty yards out from a hedgerow, where I was sitting. The bullet entered just above the right shoulder, and exited from the left rib cage. The deer went down immediately.

Congratualtions on the young BUCK Edventurous. I'm sorry to inform you that you are probably now badly hooked on muzzle loaders. (You'll have to excuse all of the guys calling it a doe. Years of breathing smoke has eroded their reading skills. :D:D)
