wad came off, whats it mean?
 

the other day i was shooting my pro hunter in the back yard i come back from gettting the target and found the wad (the back part) 25 feet away form where i was shooting,shooting pb 245 t7 pellets 150 grains by the way, could you recomend a good combo? i can't get comfortable with this
gun, season is in and killing me,no confidence ,tryed the 270 platinum no
help just picked up 295's tonight

That small plastic part is supposed to come off the main conical on a powerbelt. If it did not, then I would be concerned. The reason the accuracy might not be too good is you're pushing them too hard. Knock that charge back to 100 grains of powder and try that.

If sabots are legal in your State.. go out and get some 250 grain Shockwaves and try them. Even with 150 grains of powder they shot do real well. Just remember that when you shoot sabots, swab between the shots for the best accuracy.

the little plastic skirt (wad) should come off from 10 to 50yrds.

drop your charge. the copper class powerbelts (245, 245 AT, 295, 295AT mainly) are known to frag. with charges over 85grs at close range shots. (15 to 60yrds)


try an 50 gr pellet and 30gr pellet (80grs) or loose 70 to 80grs. you may see groups get a little better on top of that.

all will agree, 150gr "mag" charge is not needed with any bullet.

cayugad,i was hoping you would respond, sabots are legal i tryed to pick some of them up tonight (sw250's)
to try but gun shop was out of them, i will knock it down to a 100 till i get some

On the doe that I shot a couple of weeks ago, I was using the 295 grain Hollow Point Power Belt. With80 grains of 777 loose powder. Shot was about 50 yards, and the skirt on the powerbelt was still on when I recovered the bullet. I am new to this, and I had no idea that it is suppose to come off, until I was doing some reading on here.
