help
New to muzzleloading, bought a tc omega blue barrel. Salesman was pushing me to buy the stainless due to rusting. should I have spent the 100 bucks more for the stainless barrel?

RE: help
Both barrels will rust if you do not take care of them All a stainless will do is stain less. If you take care of that blued barrel it will be as perfect as a stainless. It will shoot as a good as a stainless. The one thingI will give to a stainless is it is easier to spot fowling on them. But take care if the rifle and it will take care of you.

RE: help
If you are happy with the blued barrel, that is all that counts. I have a CVA Wolf with the blued barrel, and I am very happy with it. That being said, I think the next ML I buy, will be stainless.

RE: help
I don't like the looks of stainless. Just my preference, but I'd say no, it's not worth $100 extra. Clean your gun as you should and blue steel will be fine.

RE: help
My Encore is Stainless. I like that I can grab the barrel and dont have to worry too much about the outside of it too much and it will clean off like new. That being said... its the INSIDE of the barrel that really counts and both need attention even if it is stainless. Is it worth the $100?... I dont know... but I like mine. At this point be happy with what you have and go have fun with it.

RE: help
Nope...My Knight Disc has a blued barrel and is about 7-8 years old...No rust on it at all...Just clean it properly...Stainless will rust as well if not properly cared for...
btw...I'm 53 and have guns that I have had over 40 years, none have stainless barrels and none have rust spots on them... |
RE: help
Personally, I don't think it's worth the extra $100. Just keep the blued barrel clean and it'll be fine.
