Example Scorecard for XTP and Barnes Origonal
I like what the guys are doing over on the Savage forum, they are keeping a total score by bullet, having people post their experience for each bullet. See here for an example:
XTP: http://dougva.proboards34.com/index.cgi?board=Savage&action=display&thre ad=10742 Barnes Origonal: http://dougva.proboards34.com/index.cgi?board=Savage&action=display&thre ad=10707 Could we do a bullet thread on this forum for the Shockwave, PB, Nosler Partion HG, Barnes MZ and other favorite bullets that people use? Basically a lead for each bullet updates that thread for that bullet. You ONLY post relevant facts for that full, weight, powder, gun shot from distance, shoot thru. ETC. I will start one for the Barnes MZ. FG can you start a thread for the PB and keep score? Spaniel can you start a thread for the SW and keep score? Sabotloader can you start a thread for the Nosler and keep score? Speer Gold Dot, who is willing to watch that thread and keep score? Uncle Norby are you will to do the Scorecard for FPB? Folks should cover: rifle shot with, load, sabot, primer range, shot angle, did bullet shoot thru DRT or hw far it ran other relevant facts about the shot that tell about bullet performance, Like spaniel did on the "Does SW Expand" post. The object to keep score and to tell relevant bullet performance facts. We only keep score in the thread, so if folks post something on a SW for example and they don't post to the thread, ask them to. They we can keep track and get some more info on each bullet. Chap |

Chap,
Since I look at both boards here, I'll chime in & repeat my sons story. Opening day in Illinois at approx 0700 he sees a large doe being followed by a buck. We hunt in strip mine hills, so he loses sight of deer for a while. All of a sudden, as deer can do, the buck appears on the hill 45 yds from his stand. His hands are frozen from NOT bringing gloves (18 yrs old knows more than his dad) so he pulls his whole hand back slowly on trigger as if he's got a frozen glove on. Deer fall as if hit by an axe. He spined him nicely with the 300 XTP out of his Encore ProHunter w/100 gr 777/MMP short BLK. Mark |
