few ML tools questions
 

My genesis won't be here for a while but I'm buying all my supplies. Do I need one of these special loading tips to shoot ballistic tipped bullets. I picked up a bunch of different bullets and some have ballistic tips.

Those loading tips come in real handy. You need two of them. One for the ramrod and one for the short starter. The bases are sold at Traditions. And they do have a sale on short starters there as well. I did not need another one but for the price it never hurts to have a spare around. They also have a lot of other accessories you might be interested in.

Do you need a ball starter with these? I've never used one with my Marlin muzzle loader I have now as I found it just as easy to just start it with my fingers to where it's just enough to hold it in the barrel then just use the ram rod. I had a ball starter but took it back to the store as it took more time than just doing it with the ram rod. Can I do that with this gun too or is something different where I will need a ball starter?

Do you have a link to the scope bases? I've still not found them as what I found on their site says it fits other model rifles but not the Yukon or whatever you said to get them for.

Send Traditions an email or give them a phone call ...

Ask them if A1789 base and rings will not fit the Genesis. These are the high model. I also notice they have see through models on the site.

And A1425 is a short starter that is on sale.

So are these the ones you got that are the high mounts? I could always just get mounts and switch the rings. That wouldn't be a huge deal. Or are these the ones I need to verify fit?

I checked my receipt from Traditions to make sure they were the one.. I have them listed but I have three other sets and some rings as well. I just felt you might call and double check so you did not order the wrong ones. I bought rings and stuff for a couple rifles that day...

I just found that I was right A1789 high rings from Traditions is what I put on the muzzleloader. I was mounting a scope on a different rifle today and came across the package for the Genesis mounts.. I always mark them with a magic marker so I know where the thing goes.. and then store all that.

Thanks. I may just order them. I'm not sure if I want those or to get see-thru rings. I'm still undecided. I kind of like those in Camo and thinking they would look good with the camo stock but not sure if they would or not since the barrel is blued and the scope is black. The stock is the only part of the gun that is camo so not sure if camo rings would look good or not.

Yup, I also have the A1789's on my Genesis. Just mounted them the other night. Easy installation and very good quality.
