Default Pro Hunter's First Deer

Hey guys.

ThoughtI would post a doe I got this am. I enjoy looking at all of the other kills on here so I thought i'd throw mine up on here.

This is my first deer with a muzzleloader and to say im hooked on smokepoles is an understatement. Killed plenty with the shotgun and plenty more with the bow, but hunting with muzzleloaders is something else.

My buddy bumped her to me. Never saw her until she was 25 yards away. Bleated at her, she stopped and I sent a 245gr Powerbelt powered by 100 grains of Shockeys Gold threw her lungs. She went 70 yards.

It sure is a different kinda rush than sticking one with the bow. Im hooked.

Well that's great! Looks like an awesome day to hunt where you are.

The question is begging to be asked. What did the PB do, did it penetrate fully, did it exit, did it basically blow up into a lot of small pieces?

To answer both questions, it's a T/C Pro Hunter .50 cal and the bullet passed completly threw the deer.

And yes it was a great day to be out.

The blood trail was great at the point of impact but then fell to a few drops the last 30 yards to the deer.

I will be trying Shockwaves next but the Powerbelts did do there job.

If you are already thinking about new bullets, try FPBs. They shoot geat for me. 350 grain, full-bore diameter slug, no sabot or gas check like your PB. They have worked well for me on 2 deer.
