Jag Broke in Barrel

First bad experience with cleaning the muzzy.Cleaned the knight disc elite 45cal last night and the cleaning jag broke off my ram rod. It was sticking out of the end of the barrel about a 1/4", just enought to get pliers around it and twist it out. Got lucky there.

Anything like this ever happen to guys?

Yeppers. Probably happened to a lot more than will admit it. (or it will). You have to make it an effort to constantly check that the jag is screwed on tight to the rod. It has a tendancy to back off and that's when it breaks.
I had one break off inside my traditional a couple months ago. Actually it came loose and the treads stripped out as I tried to pull it back out. (it was stuck in the breach somehow).
I had to take it out to the woods and take out the nipple and pour in some FFFFg and shoot it out.
At least with an in line you can get to it from one end or the other.

It happen because the jag became unscrewed partially and was not flat against the rod. Get a split washer and use that between your jag and your ram rod. Also best for cleaning to get a solid cleaning rod and use that as your cleaning rod at the range. I have a Knight origonal Disc and the rod on that is lame--hollow and when I used it as a cleaning rod, the end of it pulled out because it was hollow. Went to a XS Power Rod for the Knight and bought a separate range rod with a spinjag for a 50 cal:

TC bought XS.RMC Sports sells solid aluminum ram rods at a very resonable price, here:

I use a range ramrod. All this rod does is clean my rifles and load them on the range. I do not hunt with it. It is a solid stainless steel rod 34 inches long. It has a T handle on one end. A bore guide, and like they already said, check that jag. If it is loose, it will break off. Since you need a new jag, they make a spin jag that will not come loose as easy. You might want to look into one of them. They are nice. I have one.

Also be careful how tight a patch you run down it. Sometime you can get them too tight. When they are real tight, the jag will unscrew with the rifling.
