little more on FPB
I don't know if any one posted this or not.
I was wondering about the dia. of fpb's before they entered the barrel. pulled out my digital caliper. .504 dia why did I do this. I missed a doe last week and went to reload and an hell of a time getting an follow up shot loaded. I have 2, I pushed out. .502 dia I don't know if any of this will help anyone |
RE: little more on FPB
Don't know exactly what you're driving at.
Are you saying you sized some bullets to .502, to use for follow-up shots? I find that you just can't be delicate when starting these bullets. I drop one in the QLA,align it the best I can and givethe startera good hard whack. They go down every time. Admittedly, I have not loaded many of these. |
RE: little more on FPB
I got soaked in an rain storm one day. had to pull my load. that is where the .502
the one with the .504 dia was out of an brand new pack. I don't have an QLA trust me it is not fun with out one. just info. thought it would be helpful. |
RE: little more on FPB
Yeah, i can see how they could be hard to load without a QLA. My Encorelikes those bullets and they load easily.

RE: little more on FPB
they shoot while out of my disc extreme. no QLA, hard to start but easy to run down the bore. .502 bore
my knight usak, they over all load easy. just could not get a good group at 100yrds. .503 bore |
RE: little more on FPB
I was wondering that, it does help. Thanks!

RE: little more on FPB
Hey Corey, get a White and they will load easy even without the QLA. I've shot close to 2 packs through my Umag .504, no need to swab for the first5 to7 shots using 110gr of 777 3F and a musket cap. Shoots under 3 inches with a peep sight at 100 yards and under 8" at 200 yrds.
Several posts about the diameter were posted several months ago with most coming up with similar numbers to yours. My own measurments show the very bottom of the skirt to be about .505 and the mid line about .499. My testing in the white also showed they stay in place when I tried to shake it off the powder. You might want to try one of the push through speed loaders as a bore alignment tool. Place the bullet nose first into the speed loader then set it on the muzzle and use a short starter to bump it into the bore, then seat as normal. It would work similar to a false muzzle like is used on some target guns. I like the bullet but not the price. If I hadn't got them for under $15eachI probably wouldn't have bought the 4 packs I bought. |
RE: little more on FPB
I have only shot half of my 15 pack and messed around with another couple of them trying different loading techniques, so I figure I may go through a pack a season including range practice. Not too bad when you look at it that way.
They are definitely not a plinking bullet at more than $1 per shot. |
RE: little more on FPB
I could of been a little off.
I'll give the speed loader trick a try. hoping wally world has some left when they do there close out |
