Women hunting, less recoil options???
 

Hey guys this is my first post!!!!! :)

My wife wants to muzzleloader hunt this year and I am looking for options to cut down on the recoil.
I have a TC Triumph. I have a box of Shockwave 250's and triple 7 pellets right now.

I heard that the Drury's only use one pellet when their daughters hunt, would this actually get gull penetration on a deer???

We will be shooting 75 yards or less.

probably be better off with a Powerbelt and shooting Loose powder. Powerbelts will perform excellent with low powder charges, expand easily whereas with a modern pistol bullet, you may have to push it much harder for it to expand.

If shes shooting a .50cal i'd take a look at the 223gr Platinums or the 223gr Copper series and try 70-80gr Pyrodex RS.

Not sure if the Triumph comes with a Limbsaver recoil pad but if it does not that is the first thing I would add. I also sugggest going to loose powder and Powerbelts as the performance at short distances with reduced powder charges is known to be good with Powerbelts. Let her practice with reduced charges and you could do a final sight in with a hunting load that is not too heavy but more than the practice loads. As we all know the recoil during hunting is never felt.

I shoot a 295 grain Powerbelt, with 80 grains of 777 powder out of my Wolf, and it has very little kick to it.

i put a muzzle brake on mine ,and with a recoil pad most all recoil is gone

200 Shockwave , 80 powder, my daughter shoots this, very accurate , low recoil, about 1640 fps.

Welcome to the forum. Its good to have you here.

Since you're hunting deer, bow bender gave you some good advise. A 200 grain Shockwave on 80 grains of powder. My friend's little kid who was eleven was shooting my Knight Wolverine LK-II with 80 grains of powder and a 240 grain XTP and he was having no problems what so ever.. other then he could not swab and load faster. That kid was having the time of his life. And that would be an excellent deer load as well.

I'd stick with Cayugad's recipe. Probably the best advice. I would not shoot a round ball out of the Triumph. The accuracy would more than likely be horrible.

Most Triumph's do great with the 200gr SW and 90 gr BH or RS. the recoil on the 200 gr is quite a bit less and with 90 gr it gets a good trajectory and does a great job on deer, bear and boar; I fact on lady one a different forum posted pics of an elk but she use a 100 gr for elk. Lee
