Default Broke in the Encore...Gibb 1 Deer 0

Here in ontario, the second ML season is coming to an end here on saturday.
Went out Monday and saw fresh tracks everywhere but no deer from Dawn till dusk.
Tuesday got about a 45 min late start and arrived at 6:30am and proceeded to walk to my tree to sit again. Well low and behold i walk in about 15 mins and turn to walk down the cut we made to get down to the ravine and who is standing there behind a tree....Mr.8 pointer!!!
I looked up at the sky and i said **** has to be at least 7 am by now...Sunrise was at 7:22...so i cocked the TC Encore and slowly took aim. I got crazy lucky because he knew i was there buthis headwas behindthe 12" tree. He could only see my tree stand if that because he was about a foot from the tree, I could see his body and he was just turned slightly away from me. I slowly side stepped just enough to see his right ear. Took aim and KAPOW...cloud of smoke and then i heard a HUGE crash and i said well I think he is down. Took my tree stand off my back took a look at the watch and it was 7:03. Waited 10 minutes, reloaded real quick and went looking.
Found him at the bottom of the ravine about 8' from the streams edge.

This was my second day muzzle load hunting/deer hunting, and my very first deer. To top it off I had to go by myself because my bud got stuck working. Was a very very ruff haul out but Thank god...its gonna be nice to eat!

Shot him @ 25-30 yards
Shockwave Super Glide 250g w/150 Triple7 pellets
Split his heart in two!!!
He sill ran about 25 yards!!!

Thanks for all the tips and advice...love this forum!
Cheers
GIBB

Excellent buck!!! Way to make that Encore talk. Every once in a while we get lucky and all things just seem to work out right. Nice powerful load to.

Hey Gibb,
Where in Ont. are you? I'm in SW Ont and the ML season is Dec 1-6. We hunt in the snow squall belt and last year we were waist deep in the white stuff be the end of the week. I'm impatiently waiting with a nervous eye on the weather.

I live in Windsor, but was ML in Wardville for the sencond ML hunt.
hope you have a great hunt!!

I have only tried 150g of Triple 7 in the ML, I was putting 1"-2" groups at 100 yards so I am just sticking w/that.
Lots of punch but its worth it!
Thanks
GIBB
