Accuracy ? - Triumph vs. Pro Hunter

Hey everyone. I'm shopping around for my first muzzleloader and I am hung up on the either the T/C Triumph or the Encore Pro Hunter. I have shouldered both, the Triumph to me feels like shouldering a 4x4 post. Not comfortable at all. The Pro Hunter on the other hand felt incredible, very comfy on the shoulder and cheek felt good on the stock. I like the Speed Breech in both rifles and the break open action which is very nice. My question, should I expect a difference in accuracy between these 2? After the first of the year I will be shopping for a rifle too, probably a 223 or 243. I like the idea of purchasing a barrel for the Pro Hunter and being done with it but I wanted everyones opinions on that. Anyone have opinions buying one over the other? Thanks for any help.

The Prohunter with muzzleloader and rifle barrels may be the way to go if it fits you well and you don't mind a single shot rifle.

It the Trumph does not feel right to you, don't buy it.

See, when I first shouldered the Triumph, I felt the same way. I did not like the fit. I liked the light weight, but the grip on the stock was not natural to me. Granted I could have got used to it.

On the Pro Hunter, they are a great rifle. Simply because you want to move to a .223 in the future, I would go the Pro Hunter route. I often said if I had no rifles at all, I would probably go the Pro Hunter route and outfit it with barrels. Especially if they fit you.

If I lived in a state where you could hunt with a rifle I would probably bite the bullet with the Triumph. But since in Ohio you can't hunt with a rifle I cannot see myself spending $600-700 on a rifle setup and not use it but to take a couple groundhogs and I have never hunted out of state andcannot afford to hunt out of state. The muzzleloader on the other hand will get quite a bit of use. Thanks for the help so far, anyone else?

All I can say is if you don't get what fits you/feels good, your shooting/field accuracy will suffer and you'll be kicking yourself from now on. Other reasons to consider is the fact that if you don't like the encore/pro hunter,it will offer much higher resale due to the action and stock, the last reason is break the higher cost of the pro hunter down over the years of service it'll present you and you'll find it's not much higher at all. Bottom line is fit/comfort is something you can't put a price on.

There is some thing, probably the dedicated design that makes the Triumph a more accurate gun as a rule but each gun is a rule unto it self so you can never be sure. I had to add a couple of spacers to make the Triumph feel and shoot its best for me. You might take a look at the Endeavor in my opinion it has some accuracy improvements in design. And you might want to consider the fact that to get the best accuracy out of them you will end up using Blackhorn 209 powder, it gets accuracy out of TC modern inlines some of us did not know was available.
In the end if its for hunting you want to take the feel into consideration if you don't known enough gunsmithing to set it up so it fits you, this can make a difference in how well you can shoot it off hand. Lee

Lemoyne, What are the improvements the Endeavor has over the Pro Hunter? I am open to any info you guys have over what the ads say. I will listen to first hand experience by an average shooter before I listen to someone TC is paying to use their products.

I was going to ask that exact same question. I thought they were the same barrel??

I was also going to ask what makes the Triumph more accurate??

I have several Encorer barrels and a couple of frames. I really like the rifle choices, but I had bad luck with the MZ barrels. I personally had 3 different barrels for my Encore MZ, and was dissatisfied will all of them. However I have some friends who have Encore MZ's, and they shoot incredibly. I just had bad luck I guess, but I had mine when they first came out. I would look at the regular Encore before I bought the Pro Hunter. IMO the Pro Hubter is not worth the extra money you need to spend. And I like the laminated Encore stock.

RE: Accuracy ? - Triumph vs. Pro Hunter

I bought the Endeavor, it has a breech plug like the triumph, a little different than the pro hunter, no wrench needed. Ive shot30 times with BH209, with nothing on the breech plug ( ie grease, teflon tape) and still it turns out with your fingers, with hardly no blowback around primer area.

As far as accuracy it shoots pretty good, i shoot all the time with bigdadjk on here, who hasa triumph, and that thing is a absolute tack driver, i dont think the endeavor shoots as well as that particular Triumph........ if i was to do it all over i would buy a Triumph, and a savage 30-06 for about the same money i got in the endeavor...........
