Wind drift!!

Was out shootin this aft. Took the gmb renegade and my "custom tc ,45". Ren shot 80gr 3f goex w/410gr great plains and 460nex 1-3 right of center at 50m, same w/70-80-3f swiss. Very stiff sw wind, shooting s to north at the range. The .45 tc hawken 1/48 bbl in the WMC stock shot 4 shots 3-4 in left till I got it dialed in. Plumb center 50m, 80gr 3f goex, 240gr maxi w/felt wad!! Best shooting perc ever!!

I love the way those GM barrels shoot. Especially the LRH models. Although, I've had a few T/C barrels that shot great. It all depends on wheter you get the right powder/bullet formula figured out for a particular rifle.
Glad you had a good day shooting.

I have to agree, those Green Mountain Barrels are real shooters. I have a number of them and there is not a bad one in the bunch. Actually with some of them I have I would not really even have the need for an inline. But one can never have enough rifles..

RE: Wind drift!!

The last time I was out I shot at long range with my TC Ren, GM 50 1-28 twist. The wind was about 5 MPH maybe a little more maybe a little less. At 150 yards I was hitting about 2" to the right at 150, 8" to the right at 200, 18" to the right at 250, and 24" to the right at 300. Wind is a tough thing to dope at long range.
All three of my GM,Renegades hybreds are great shooting guns. Two stainless 50's w/1-28 twist and a 45 W/ 1-18 twist. With these rifles I have no need for a inline for accuracy or distance. Ron

Thinking seriously of sellin my .50 bighorn and since I have a hawken stock, that I stole the bbl for the wmc stock, and getting a 15/16 .54 GMB in a roundball tist 1/70. I think 90-100 gr goex and a rb would be fun!! Fom what I read and hear that .54 rb would slap the snot out just about anything. Never kilt anything w/a rb in 30 yrs of muzzleloading! Always been maxis or sabots!

If you have doubts about the killing power of a roundball out of a .54 caliber ask FG how far away that elk was that he put a ball through...

A roundball is a deadly thing when placed in the right place. My .58 caliber 1-70 twist shoots 110 grains of powder and a round ball real sweet. It would be fun to try at long distances with it.
