KRB Range Report

I took my KRB out today to get a few more shots with it. I haven't really shot it much since I got it this spring. 100 yards, 250gr Barnes Expander with the tightest damn supplied sabots I have ever shot. 120gr Pyrodex RS, W209 primer. Cleaned the barrel of oil with alcohol patch/dry patchand loaded first shot. The first one went down tight. 2,3,and 4 was so bad I didn't think I'd get them down even after cleaning with a alcohol patch and dry one between shots. First two hit the same hole. Shots 3 and 4 were after a minor scope adjustment. I'm going to try this load with crushed rib sabots. Inch and a half between shot #4 and 1/2.

Just some good shooting is all I see. It looks like you have a good shooting rifle. And that load will take out about anything you would ever want to shoot. Keep us posted. Those first two were getting you excited I bet..

Yeah, I had to go to the truck and get the binoculars and check shot #2. I don't know which sabot is supplied with the Barnes Expanders but I know my Green Mountain barrel did not like them for loading. I had to actually place my short starter on top of the bullet and smack it with my hand after the first shot. I've got two different sabots from Harvester to try. The high presure "easy glide" or something like that and the crushed ribs. If I can improve the ease of loading without hurting my group I think that will be one good deer load.
