Will TC ever make a SS barrel for the Triumph

In everyones opinion, do you think that TC will ever introduce a Triumph with a Stainless barrel? I was at my local shop yesterday browsing at ML's (again) and every gunsmith there, 1 of them being a very good freind of mine, told me that the Triumph has better features and is maybe a touch more accurage than the Omega. I have never been steered in the wrong direction by this staff butI have my reservations about not having a stainless barrel like the Omega.

I have not been keeping up on how well the "weathershield" coating is holding up. But I have not heard too much about it breaking down. Although it is rather new to the market still. What is the opinion of those that own the Triumph with weathershield think of it?

Everyone that has the Triumph with the Weathershield has said save your money and get the blued barrel because the Weathershield is not applied on the inside of the barrel, only the outside. I take very good care of my equipment so I don't think I'll have a problem but the last 2 years of gun season it has either sprinkled or a heavy wet snow most days.

The weather shield is only on the out side. When I pay for protection I want it on the inside of the barrel. When they come out with stainless barrels is when I buy the next Triumph and sell the Omega. The Triumph I have will be my back up as selling a gun that will shoot 1/2" groups is out of the question. I really like my Weathershield Triumph... we all know regardless of the barrell type you still have to clean it. With the Weathershield however you can just concentrate on the inside and let the outside ride. Maybe it's just me, but every SS gun I own seems to need just as much attention as the blued... heck, maybe even more!

io'm not sold on stainless barrels esp om muzzleloaders. i have had 2 stainless knights show signs of rust on the outside of th barrelm, and a brand new never firedwith rust on the inside of the bore. my triumph weathershield was with me for 3 days of rain,. freezing rain, sleet, snow without any signs of corrosion...on the outside. now leaving uncleaned after shooting bh209 for 3 weeks showed signs of rust on the inside of the bore, not the outside. i like the weathershield. i don't think that it could work in the bore since it's a bit of a textured finish and not smooth like a bore should be.
now weathershield on a stainless barrel would be the best of both worlds but could still rust up on you.

you could always have it duracoated with the stainless finish. then it would look stainless only more durable.

That's why the kind of durable electro-nickel plating that Traditions coats their barrels with inside and outis so desirable. Nickelsimply doesnotrust.
There's different kinds of stainlessand I don't know much about them, but nickel isan ingredient in many alloys including SSbecause it's strong, heat resistantandwon't rust.
There's Chromium lined barrels too, and Investarms used to make them a long time ago. But every process is different regarding howaccuracy will beaffected.

Nickel-62 is the most stable nuclide of all the existing elements; it is more stable even than iron-56.

The added nickel helps to determines thepropertiesof a SS alloy, so it'sa very goodelement to have a barrel coated with. The Traditions coating is matte, it's slick and shoots very accurately. I believe that it can stain if not properly cleaned but I haven't actually experienced that.

Stainless steel is an alloy that starts with basic iron with up to 8 alloys added, depending on the quality. The major alloys in stainless steel are chromium and nickel. The chromium provides rust and corrosion resistance and durability. Nickel provides additional rust resistance, hardness, and high polishing characteristics.

The numbers 18/0, 18/8 and 8/10 refer to the percentage of content of chromium and nickel. To be classified as stainless steel, the metal must contain at least 11 % chromium (no nickel required). Stainless steel used in cookware is normally 18% chromium and 8% to 10% nickel.
