Shot this meat mulie this AM with my .54 Renegade at 50 yards. He ran 75 yards and did a lipstand in the leaves. Was using .530 homecast balls/100gr FFG/.018 patch.Found ball in off shoulder flat and weighing 217gr from the original 230gr.....................Harold

Awesome deer and load! I am sighting in my .54 also and using that as a back up for elk. What kind of groups are you getting at 50 and 100 yards with your set up? Looks like a TC?

Beautiful, .54 with a scope, nice 1st buck, a lotta meat there. I like to get 4 roasts off my bucks, rest into burger or stew meat. Chap

I am kind of surprised that the rifle did not shoot that ball all the way through that deer with that load. Still it did the job. That is the most important thing. What kind of scope do you have on that Renegade? I have a 1X because of the State laws. Otherwise I'd have something much different.

Congratulations on the deer. That is quite the perfect placed shot IMO.

Was getting about 2.5 " groups at 75 yards but this was after an extended period of sighting in other guns and getting tenderized in the process.Shooting from a picnic table is not the best shooting posture.Too low and you wear all the recoil.Small balloons at 100 yards were no problem so I guess it works. It's fun to put the hunting back in hunting messin with BP!I had 8 does walk by and no tag until this little buck brought up the rear.My son was on the opposite end of the property and had two doe tags.GRRRRRRR! He shot a button WT buck out of his treestand 5 min before I shot this mulie so he's happy. Now we're looking for a cow moose for the wife. It' way to mild here for much game movement....Harold

The scope is a 20+ year old Bushnell Banner 4x that is reliable as taxes rode a .338 Win mag to the Yukon.Thrives on recoil abuse! They don't make them like this anymore.Cheap and tough......................As for penetration it powdered the off side shoulder and should be doing 1850-1900 fps as It's in a long barrel GM ?The ball looks like someone bashed it with a sledge! I like one ofJack O'Conner'squotes reguarding ballistics ,"At what point of the animal's death did the bullet fail"? It was a fun day.............more to follow I hope...Harold
