off topic, just trust what yall say

I was thinking of throwing the old scope I had on the apex on my sks pulled it out. the muzzlebreak had rust in the ports and the "muzzle" of the break.

I remember when I cleaned it I used an foaming bore cleaner. when I ran the patch thou it. the stuff looked like thick wet coffee grounds. I was lazy that day with my muzzleloaders. I used the same cleaner in them. it looked the same.

I think the russian ammo in it was filled with black powder
if not that. damn primer a corrosive as hell. what every it was it sucks. I am either going sell this gun or start reloading and casting for it.

I have about 20 to 30 rounds of that stuff left. Should I shoot it again with it? this stuff is not wolf brand.

forgot to clean the gas tube. used butch's bore shine for black powder. an 45cal blackpowder jig worked great for the main part of the tube.

did not come out gray like smokeless should, it was black as well. but it has been about an month since I had it out last. just a little rust where it connects to the rifle other then that, no other rust.

I think there are some issues with cast bullet in gas operated guns plugging gas ports. Before you start check out Cast Boolit forum. I checked it out in sks ans AK gas ports are ok but it helps to cast your bullets hard.

Some of the SKS ammo is corrosive so you have to be careful what brand you purchase. If you shoot the corrosive brand you have to pay special attention when you clean the rifle.

if I go to reload for the sks once I get the fonds to do it.

Corey,
Did you check the instructions on your can of foam cleaner? My can indicates that it is NOT recommended for use in gas operated actions.

like I said a really lazy day for me.;)

next time I take it out, I am going to use butch's bore shine for black powder with what is left of this ammo.

this is the first time I have had this problem with gun and ammo.

With the corrosive ammo just make sure you clean it that day. Just like a muzzleloader.

normally do,

only gun that does not get cleaned the same day. is my 96/22lr. it waits till 300+rounds before it gets cleaned ;)

That's the Klimovsk plant in Russia. 1994 production.
Shouldn't have been corrosive in that year.

Yeah, if it's just light rust, it should clean up nice.

Main thing is, if you use chemical cleaners on your rifles,
be sure to use oil that lasts, like some type of synthetic,
otherwise the dry steel will rust, especially in humid conditions.

maybe a bad lot. I have shot over 200rds of this stuff. cleaned the gun very hard that day. just blast what is left and go with one of my other plans.
