Just my luck
Got all of my shooting stuff together, swabbed the Optimas bore with a windex patch, run into the bathroom before i head out and sure enough i hear rain hitting the skylite[:'(] Its pouring now so this is going to delay my shooting i had planned. Finally had another cold snap and it starts raining!

RE: Just my luck
That's what is supposed to happen. It keeps you from wasting ammo.

RE: Just my luck
It let up after 20 minutes. I made a big mistake and paid for it with the scope to the nose deal:D My first shot was obviously 80gr Pyrodex P, next shot i held the rifle loose and holy cow, that was a hot 90gr Pyrodex P load and the scope smacked me right in the nose and left a pretty good gouge in it. I am taking 3 more shots, 1 80gr charge and 2 90gr charges to get a complete group of 6 shots total.
I'll never do that again! |
RE: Just my luck
Well it will not be the last time you get a scope eye... those things can really smack you. I am talking from experience here.. better luck next time.

RE: Just my luck
That scope to the nose must have fixed an eye sight problem as Ihave never shot a 3 shot 90gr group like this in the Optima! Its the very top hole, the other 3 shots are with 80gr Pyrodex P.

RE: Just my luck
Wheres the picture of your nose? Everybody shows their great shooting abilities with targets, sometimes we need a reminder of what not to do. And a good laugh [lol]. Just kidding we've all been there, done that.

RE: Just my luck
lol i found out later that is was the button on the scope covers that got me! I moved that bastard around to the other eye. Nose still is numb and tender but i have learned my lesson and went and dumped all my premeasured loads into the powderhorn and went and made new ones.

RE: Just my luck
Well I should have taken a picture of the slash to my cheek from the other day. I was shooting my Renegade and felt something hit me in the face. Never thought a thing about it until I went in the house and saw all the blood. A tiny little cut on the cheek (I am guessing from a blown cap)and you'd of thought I was bleeding out. That Aspirin therapy the doctor put me on might be good for my heart but it makes you bleed like a stuck pig.

RE: Just my luck
my dad used to take some meds that thinned his blood and like you, any tiny cut bled like a SOB. After he cut his knee cap one day with the chain saw, he hasnt been allowed to use one since then:D
