Help needed quickly

Our Ml season is only a week long and I have a friend that has a problem with a brand CVA 45 cal optima. The primers are sticking in the breech after firing and are a real pain to remove. After further investigation, he has noticed that the firing pin is protruding from the breech face just a little bit and onlyg goes back in if you pull back on the hammer just a little. Could this be hazardous. I mean, if he slams the breech closed and the firing pin is protruding, could it cause the gun to fire? I suggested that he not fire the gun until he can contact CVA in the morning. I know when I had a problem with my optima pro they had a brand new one at my door with 48 hours. I just wanted to ask you pros.

yeah the firing pin is sticking. My omega did that until i got some oil into the housing.

Work it back and forth for a couple minutes to free it up and then use some penetrating oil and allow that to soak in.

Course I do not really know much about the mechanics of an Optima, but with the Omega - you can take the breech assembly apart with a small screwdriver and the parts can be cleaned. You might be able to use a can of aerosol cleaner to was the material out then oil the assembly.

Here is a drawing of the Omega breech block - which probably will not help you a bit...

yep you can use a spray can of carb cleaner and put it up against the firepin hole and spray that out, let it dry and then spray some oil in there, Dont use wd40!

This sounds a little more serious to me. Pulling back the hammer would only have impact on the firing pin if it is exerting pressure on the pin. Sure, try cleaning the pin - but that isn't it.

UC its just some gunk in there. Had it happen both the omega and optima. CVA uses a thick nasty packing grease thats in there and it can gum up the firing pin.

It looks like theres a screw that you can remove to pull out the firing pin but its really slim and if i had something that fit, i'd try it.

You Accura has the same set up too.

Scuse' the crud, i hadnt cleaned off the excess moly lube,
The machining on your accura is a hell of a lot better then on my optima.

Accura,

That screw should come out and give access to the firing pin for cleaning. The slotted screw on mine though is a lot more tighter. I cant find anything even in the tool boxes to fit.

It's already been out and cleaned (after the Swiss session). I still don't see how a dirty pin would produce the result of pin retraction when the hammer is raised.
