Cleaning my Kodiak
I'm going to give my Kodiak one more thorough cleaning before Saturday. It seems I read somewhere that you could use Mean Green to clean it with. Could I use that on the breech plug as well as the barrell? Also, should I scrub the barrell with a brass brush or not? I've heard it isn't good for the barrell. Finally, will the T17 patches be sufficient to prevent rust in the barrell?
BTW, if anyone has any ideas on how to clean the part where the firing pin hits the primer, I'd be happy to listen. Thanks to all. Your knowledge is invaluable. |

RE: Cleaning my Kodiak
I have seen the T/C T17 cleaner allow rust to form on the inside of a barrel. I use Rem Oil now and have no problems when I put the gun away.

Once the barrel is clean and DRY, get a patch and lightly coat it with Rem oil and make a few passes down the bore. After a few minutes run a dry patch down the bore to mop up and excess oil. Lube breech plug, reinstall and you're done. Make sure you clean the drop block too. |
