changed bullet weight and.....
swithched from 200gr. sw to 250gr. sw superglide bonded. i'm hitting 1" to the right and 9" low. does this sound normal? i knew it would shoot different but that seems like a lot of drop for 50 more gr.

RE: changed bullet weight and.....
It probably has more to do with the superglide sabot than the bullet weight. What powder are you using? Were you using the blue sabot that comes with the 200 gr. bullet? If so the blue sabotfitstighter than the superglide sabot which will cause a greater difference in the point of impact.

RE: changed bullet weight and.....
That's not so unusual S. Il. That was a twenty-five percent increase in bullet weight, and a sabot change to boot. A sabot and/or bullet change frequentlyresults ina different POI, sometimes drastically so.

s. il. hntr
Different components CAN create different barrel harmonics which will change the POI on a target. |
RE: changed bullet weight and.....
thanks for replying guys. yes it was the blue sabot with the 200 gr. BTW the superglide doesn't glide so super, but still easy thanbefore. Semisane thats what i thought too, but wasn,t for sure. anyhow, i built a shooting viseat work today just to take any error from me out of the equation. i'll try again next weekend. oh yeah i use pyrodex, should i try something else?

RE: changed bullet weight and.....
I would think your pyrodex should be fine. If you want to try something else, I would wait until after your done with the bullet. If you're looking for your most accurate load, it's usually best to only try to change one thing at a time.

Pyrodex is a great powder. Just swab between shots and clean your rifle ASAP after your range session. Actually I like Pyrodex RS when I shoot sabots. It is a very consistant powder and seems easy to ignite.
