Shot the Encore today!

I put a new Leupold scope on the T/C Encore 26" bbl .50 cal and wanted to get it dialed in. Well, ran out of time and didn't get a chance to shoot a group, but I got it shooting a shade over 2" high at 100 yds and dead on L to R. I'll try to get back to shoot groups soon.

I was wondering what the downrange trajectory for this load might be with that sight in. I'm shooting 300 gr Nosler Partition. 458 cal, 110 grains BH 209, MMP Sabot. I think muzzle velocity should be something around 1925 fps. Any ideas? Thanks!

That would be a heck of a good hunting load you have there. As for trajectory, I am not into ballistics like some of the others. Sabotloader shoots that kind of a load and I am sure he would have some real good information for you as well as some of the other members.

A deer would sure hate to get smacked by that load. :D

Wow! Quick response.

I love this bullet for the Encore. Shoots great and will put 'em down. Actually, I handload this bullet in a .450 Marlin and decided I liked it so much, I tried it with success in the Encore. The only drawback in my mind is the bullets are pricey, but in my mind they are worth it!

Formula1;

I just worked up this load for my Triumph....
110gnv BH209
300gn Remington HP .457
1875fps @ muzzle [chronographed]

100yd +2.54 velocity 1655
125+1.681603
150 +0.001552
175 -2.51 1503
200 -6.071455

I got these stats off a ballistics program called PointBlank, free downloadable.

The one below is also a good and easy to use program.

Hey Panhandle:

That is a cool program. I want to do some practicing at ranges out to 200 yds for a IL muzzleloader tag I have (yeah!) this year. Just trying to get a feel for what I might expect. Thanks a bunch!

I drew a 2nd season tag for IL this year also!! I'll be using my Pro Hunter in .50cal. I need to get to the range and get her dialed in at 200yds also. Keep us posted
