Shooting today!!!

Ok,

I have been out of it for a couple of years, but today I picked up Dad and we shot our ML's.

Dad- CVA Wolfe black on black. Shokey Gold/Powerbelt 265

Me- Knight KRB 7-T7 Pellets-Hornady SST/Shockwave 250

My KRB shot without a hitch except the scope was maxed and I could NOT adjust enough. I loosened and tightened until I got it right!! Both bullets had almost the same POI at 25 and 75 yards with 100 grains of T7 (2 pellets)

Dad's CVA gave us a scare!! He was dead on at both ranges, but had 2 shots that kind of just "plopped" out of the barrel. One hit good and the other was burning through the air and hit the ground. You just knew something wasn't quite right. Any guesses??

I swabbed my barrel after evry shot with VERY light Windex...then dry patch. Do I have to after EVERY shot with T7?

I thought the KRB was going to be hard to cap with the scope mounted, but it was easy. It is a great gun.

It sounds like your Dad had a flaming pellet. If he was shooting pellets, what happened is for some reason one did not burn through and so what you saw was a flaming pellet come out the end of the barrel. If he was swabbing with Shockey Gold, he might have not dried the barrel well enough. It's hard to say without being there..

Do you have to swab after each shot? For the best accuracy, that is normally the way to do it. Although I will often times shoot twice and then swab, it depends on the bullet.

Well,

I was VERY lightly hitting the patch with Windex.. then dry swab after. He was shooting Shockey Gold and didn't swab quite as much. I had to swab my KRB with a soaked patch and didn't have an issue.

The EZ Load Hornady's are easy compared to the Shockwaves.

get rid of shockys gold, that crap aint even worth buying just to set on fire.

Get some pyrodex RS and some remington kleanbore primers.

Thats exactly what I use in my CVA Wolf. I also use the Pyrodex pellets too. No problems with ignition. I also have the KRB with a scope and even though my hands have been compared to 5 lb hams I can get the primer in place with ease. That KRB is one nice shooter.

I have always wondered if Jim Shockey really uses that powder and actually likes the stuff. I have shot a lot of the loose APP and one day you get great accuracy and the next time you get nothing.

I had good luck with the one canister ofShockey's Gold that I've boughtas far as accuracy, consistency, and clean up. But velocity was way below (three to four hundred fps)equal loads of GOEX or Pyrodex.

+1, also big variation in velocity up to 200 fps, therefore effects accuracy. Chap

I think I will go with T7 until Knight gets my breech plug right for BH!
