Went back out today and retested the 80 gr FFFg and 430 gr Maxiball out of the 54 Renegade. Very good results. 3" high at 50 yds and right on at 100.
Also took the 21" GM flinter out. That too shot 80 gr of FFFg with 320 gr REAL, very good.
Before I left, while picking up my targets, I noticed 3" thick piece of shale about 10" in diameter. I stood it on end about 60 yds and loaded my last remaining 430 gr Maxiball into the 54. After the smoke cleared, there wasn't much of it left. A couple fist sized pieces is all. I think this load will definately mess up a bear's day.

That would give a lot of critters a very bad day... nice to have guns that shoot well.

I was getting spoiled shooting the percussion rifles so much lately. That flinter made mejump a tad on the first shot. Being lefty and shooting a RH flinter, that pan isn't too far from my nose. I really have to concentrate on the target shooting them and ignore the flash.

I don't know how you can do it.. but other lefties do it. I just am not sure if I had to shoot a left handed flintlock rifle, if I could by pass the flinch factor..

It would jump right out of my hands! Thou I did shoot a big doe left handed with a crossbow several year ago but that didn't spark

Great shooting my friend

I have a left handed flinter but have not shot it yet.
Good luck with the bears
