RE: Newbie to Loose Powder
ORIGINAL: cayugad http://www.midsouthshooterssupply.com/item.asp?sku=000307222 ![]() The powder measure I use... You also need to get a pour cap. They are red in color and made to fit the Pyrodex bottles. You take the lid off the 209 and this will screw in place. You can then pour from that into your powder measure. Really not all that hard. Set the measure for the desired amount of powder you want to shoot. Fill it from the jug, and the swing the funnel over to cut the charge. Dump that, put the lid back on the powder and you're all set to load your bullet... Some shooting tubes or speed loaders, and you can make some pre measured charges up for hunting that you carry in your pocket.. I will give you some reasons for switching, #1 I weightpellets on a reloading scale for a while then I throw loads with the measure cayquad is showing you, the volume measure use right is more accurate by .5 of a grain. #2 the economics of the matter, even Black Horn 209 is cheaper than 777 pellets. #3 nothing else gives you the combination of shelf life with out deterioration or the combination of consistant accuracy and shooting so clean that it works better after the first shot on a clean barrel or the higher velocity or being able to shoot with out any swabbing as Black Horn 209 does. RE: Newbie to Loose Powder
Thats the same powder measure I use.
A friend gave me 3 or 4 other types but that one is the best I have. And for the powders I have I dont like those brass flasks either.I have a bottle spout, that works for me. |
RE: Newbie to Loose Powder
i use the brass flask but its just as simple to use the pour spout. I use the U view powder measure pictured above also
but the basics you need are as listed U view powder measure Flask or pour spout thats all you need since I assume you have the rest for using with pellets such as cleaning supplies and etc... I like 115grains of BH209.. not to much and not to little;) but anywhere in the 90-125 range seems to be the average. If you cant find the stuff, dont worry about it since the T7 pellets shoot just about as good. Its just a little harder to clean and maybe .5-1inch difference in groups under all equal conditions;) |
