RE: During hunting season...
So long as you're loading on a clean bore you can leave it loaded as long as you want. I wouldn't let it go any more than a year though. :D My brother-in-law leftone of hisTC side hammersloaded on a clean barrel with T7 at the end of the 2006/07 hunting season. When he bench shot it at the beginning of the 07/08 season it went of with the first cap and hit where it should have.

RE: During hunting season...
Ideally it will only be loaded for a couple of hours before unloading it on a nice buck.;):D
But should real life interject on your fantasy, here's what I do.[:@] Clean the barrel with acohol/windex mix and dry patch really well. Load and place electrical tape over the muzzle. (shoot through it no problem) Capped when hunting (inline or Perc) (plugged with a toothpick for the flinter) After the hunt I'll use a fired cap on the breech plug to keep it sealed for the inline but I blow out with a CO2 un-loader for the flinter and percussion rifles and reload in the morning. I've had my inline Omega loaded for 2 weeks in really crappy weather and it went off without a hitch. I use 2f T7 in the inline and 3F Goex for the others. Good luck this fall. |
RE: During hunting season...
ML season is 2 weeks here.. if I dont fire it the first week, ill usually clean pop the breech out and wipe the barrel clean. I like to spend quality time with my guns so it helps us bond LOL(joking). But definitly take the primer out, but dont forget to put it back in before the hunt LOL. I made that mistake once. I went to take it out after the hunt and realized I never put it in before the hunt. Luckly no shooters walked by LOL
