test idea for #11

I have the winchester #11 caps. I want to test them against cci #11 mags.

should I pop 5 caps of each just using the sound without charge?

or

set of same charge and set off to see if they hit the same?

Well "sound" might not be the best judge of the caps ability. The best would be to shoot them with about a 50 grain load over a chronograph and see if there is any real difference in velocity. Unless you have a way to test their temperatures when ignited.

Shoot them side by side and report back to us if there is an accuracy difference. It would be an interesting test.

don't have chronograph nor anything to test temperature.

accuracy test is about the only thing i have.

trying to decide if I use my knight or shot with one of my sidelocks.

I've never done it, but here's what I would do.

Clean the barrel well. Pusha sabot (no bullet, no powder) down the bore with your ram rod with no jag on it. Leave your ramrod sitting in the sabot. Hold the gun straight up (vertical). Pop a cap and see how far the ram rod moves.

Repeat the same process with another cap. :)

make it every 1/2 in.

could also take a pale with dry sand and see how much it displaces. (maybe a dumb idea)
camera is required for this one.

Oh that's good Semi. Then his wife will ask him why there are so many dings in the ceiling.
Heck, why don't you tell him to look down the barrel and see how bright the flash is too.....
Reminds me of the last thing a redneck says - Watch this!

Now that's funny right there!

Put a patch on your cleaning jag, dry for #11's it might or might not move the rod there use to be some available that did , but tempture is the key here and you can tell by how much of a burn you get on the patch what they are doing; br sure to wipe the gun clean and run a pipe cleaner through the flame channel be tween test to keep it all the same and clean the gun when you are done some caps are very corroaive.
