Hornady FPB loading advice
 

Morning guys,..Have a question or two.Are there any tips ,suggestions in the loading process for the FPB's in an Omega as compared to a KRB7.Have both guns and getting some FPB rounds today.Also when useing BH209 in an Omega,which breech plug design is suggested.As you guys know they changed from concave to convex and I have both.Trying to learn some more stuff from you folks. hunt4me

Well with the Omega it will not be a problem, I have been shooting them in an Omega and a Triumph use a good short starter with the SW tip and 80,90 and 100 grs of BH shoot good with all of them. Lee

Thanks Lemoyne.Once more,is there a breech plug design favorite in the Omega when shooting BH?

I have had two different designs of breach plug, they both work about equally well, the thing you will run into with all guns I know of that do really well with BH is that the carbon from the 209 does not escape it builds up between thespot where the end of the 209 sits and the flash hole. The answer to that is a 1/8 th inch drill; when you clean the gun and the breach plug clean the area where the fire comes out of the 209 on to the flash hole then take a hat pin or something similar and clear the flash hole, its not a problem unless you over look cleaning it. Lemoyne,..I have doing the drill bit "bit"for a good while now.I just slightly spin the bit between my fingers and this sort of chews away the carbon build up.Do know a fellow that got real lazy and chucked it in a drill,yeah,he bought a new plug,the idiot.I also use the hat pin thingy as well.Not sure where I picked this tip up,shoot,it may have been from you.Thanks for your interest and advice. hunt4me

With a choice, I think the concave breech plug would be a better choice. The convex one may work, but it is more like the one in the KRB, so may be more prone to having problems with BH209. I think? the convex one was to try and reduce the 777 crud ring by reducing the amout of fire that reached the powder, the opposite of what you want with BH209.

Wher did you get a convex one? I have one the is slightly concave and one that is deeply concave but never have seen a convex one. Lee

Sorry for the confusion tx.and lemoyne.I confused the omega plugs with my krb plug.Had all laid out as I was typeing and messed up my question.Here it is unconfused.My two Omega's are as follows.One is deeply dished and one is slightly dished.With that being said does the BH209 prefer one over the other in an Omega. hunt4me

In my particular gun the deep dish groups slightly better. Lee
