+1 for the Barnes MZ.They were on sale for $12.99 for 20 bullets over on Traditions Web site in the bargin bin.

Another excellent bullet isBarnes FlatNose .458 45/70 bullets, using crushed rib sabot, Barnes Part Number 45843. They shot excellent in my Savage with 44g of 5744, they were $17 for 20 and the .458 bullets here:

As for weight retention after impact forthe SW/SST, well I have read and have seen in ballistics teststhat 250g fragments sometimes, the 300g is good, but sometimes shoots thru deer without expansion, some folks shootfor the shoulder with this bullet to get the great expansion. They are accurate as heck and only about $.50 each. I am not saying the 250 don't kill, they do. I am notsaying that the 300 don't kill, they just sometimes shoot thru without expansion and you have a 150 or 200 yard blood trail to follow. In tall grass or corn that is a big issue.

RE: What is the difference between these bullets?

The Super Glide is the same shockwave bullet with a different sabot for easier loading in tight bores. I shot them in my Black Diamond XR and they did fine, but really no better then the standard Shockwave. Actually, a little worse. But in your rifle that might be a different story.

As for the killing power of the Shockwave, too many deer have been shots and too many packages of them sold to dismiss them as a good hunting load. I personally have never shot a deer with one, but I honestly believe, placed in the right place, that Shockwave will do the trick. I saw pictures once of how well they worked even on moose. So all you can do is try them. Good luck with that permits. Do they let you keep that meat?

Dave--Yes you can keep the meat-doe's only no bucks...And you can
hunt them at night with a light if you want to...And you can use a rifle
instead of a shotgun as well...I seen a couple of BIG bucks today
while running the chopper....I mean these were nice bucks..Probably
both 8 or 10 points...Thanks for all the reply's.....
