which scope for muzzle loader?????

I am looking to rescope my mustang muzzleloader...It came with
a cheap ass Pineridge from Cabaleas.....What about using a
shotgun scope in maybe a 3.5 to 7 x or something on that order.

I mean I don't plan on shots being too far..May from point blank
range to 120-150 yds at the very most...I figured you guys can
point me in the right direction....And I have also heard that some
scopes do not hold up to the recoil of shot guns or M L'S....Thanks....

I would look at the Nikon Pro Staff in 2-7x32mm. They are on sale at Natchess.com right now if you do not mind a refurbished. They are a great scope. I never bought a refurbished, but Nikon has a life time warranty.

Bushnell Banner 1.5-4.5x32 Rifle Scope Matte Multi-X 711545 Riflescope

I have had this comparitively low priced for a good scope on my Omega for about 4 years and it is very clear with fine cross hairs in the middle and heavy ones beond that; it is the only scope in that price range that I would recomend for both hunting and target. Hope this helps, if you are willing to spend 200 that is a different price range and I would recomend a Nikon. Lee

Dave, I have a Nikon 2-7X32 refurb I bought from Natchez. Mounted it on my Knight Wolverine 209, works great. Best cheap scope I ever bought, but the warranty is only for 90 days on the refurbished Nikons.

I was not aware of the warranty issue. Then perhaps I would not go that route. I just wish Natchess would have more of them Bushnell Elite 3200 2-7x32 with firefly. I'd like to get about three more of them They are a great scope. Very clear, and bright, excellent light gathering, and good eye relief. Although the two Nikons I have are hard to beat...

X2 Bushnell Banner is a great Scope , I have the 3X9X40 ML Scope on one of my knight Extreme and the 4" eye relife is perfict . $80

I also have and like the BSA 3.5X10X44 CatsEye I put on my .45cal Elite 4.5" eye relife

Can't go wrong with the Banner Scopes

RE: which scope for muzzle loader?????

Bushnell makes good scopes for a decent price. Just make sure you get enough eye relief - I'd suggest 4" or more of eye relief. For the ranges your shooting, you don't NEED anything more powerful than a 4X scope, although a 2-7X would work nice.

I would go with a good Black Powder Scope. I trashed two fine quality scopes, one a Burris Fullfield and the second a Bushnell Elite 3200 when I put them on an Encore. Had them both repaired and then a friend told me to just go out and get a Banner BP scope:

http://www.shopbushnell.com/product_detail.asp?T1=BSN+713944&.

She lasted for five years and the Isold thegun. A lot of people will tell you that it doesn't make any difference, but the harmonics and vibrations of the rimfire, shotgun, muzzleloader and centerfire guns are all different. I leaned that one the hard way.

Good luck in your choice. Just don't let it becometoo costly. ;)
