Blackhorn 209 in a TC Omega
Got a can of Blackhorn 209 about 2 weeks ago and got a chance to try it today. It was 10:30 and very hot. I shot mySavage first in the cooler temps. I shot two different bullets in it, first was a Speer Gold Dot 300g with a Crushed Rib sabot and Federal primer. I was shooting 100g of BH. No Swabbing between shot. First shot on clean barrel was high and to the left. Not too good a group.

Next I shot a Barnes MZ with the supplied sabot. Traditions sold these on their web site for $5.95 a couple of months ago. Same load 100g of BH. No swabbing between shot. Tight to load, but went down with now swabbing. Looks like I will be using the Barnes MZ in my Omega this fall. Great group, I only shot 3 shots, and the barrel was very hot. 4 wipes of the bore and it was pretty clean. The residue from the BH is very very fine, very unlike 777, which I would call gritty. I like the accuracy. I like the power, only thing I don't like is the price, butI may shootit just for hunting.I like it on first use.

I measured the MZ bullet in the supplied sabot and it was .501, just got my Cabelas calipers, nice to be able to measure accurately. Chap |
