Omega - Favorite Load Combination?

I just got my new scope put on my omega last weekend and I had the opportunity to try it out. I really liked the Nikon Omega Scope. I was shooting 250 grain Shockwave Sabots backed by two 50 grain pellets of 777. Now I just need to practice, practice, practice. Guys that have an Omega what's your favorite load combination? I will be using my muzzy for deer hunting.

Thanks

RE: Omega - Favorite Load Combination?

I just got a new one I have been shooting my Triumph a lot since BH209came out and so I took the Omega out to try the loads that work so good in the Triumph. the first one I tried was 110 gr BH209 with a 250 Gold Dot, I would bet my jaw droped when I walked up to that target dont shoot many 5/8" groups with a 4 powerscope on a muzzleloader, after that I tried the 200gr Shock Wave it liked 120gr BH209 well enough th hold one inch and chrony at 2250 fps which will be my long range load. As I like the 3" up at 100yd 3" down at 200yd.The 250 SW shot with 110 and stayed under 1.5" the 300 GD shot with 100gr BH209. The Speer 260gr check in at 3/4" for one group and 1.25 for the other but the last shot on the last group did not feel right I think I wiggled.
I just happened to have those 260 gr Speers laying around I have never used them on Game so I would like to hear how they work on game if anyone has been using them. Lee

I too used the 250 grain bonded shockwaves, but I was using 3 pellets. If the groups are good with two, I may try that this year. I didn't see an advantage to shooting the 3 pellets unless long distance shots were there. I guess I just liked the extra kick.

My Omega X7 seems to like 250 grain xtp in a crush rib sabot over 100 grains BH 209. Right around inch & a half at 100 yards.

My Omega shoots about 2" groups at 100 yards with .452 Nosler Partitions HG 300g (HG is for Hand gun), Crushed Rib sabot, 100g of 777, and Federal or Winchester primer. I swab between shots at the range and in the field I carry a bore butter patch to swab with, I really have never had to reload. The 300g Noslers shoot thru deer, even when bone is hit. This is just me though. Also the ballistic coefficient of the 300g bullets is much better, for example here is your SW BC for a 250 and 300g.
Best Wishes, Chap Gleason

Yes, your right. Sabotloader shoots the .458 rifle bullets for 45/70 and they have a 260g in that. That would be great with an Orange MMP or a crushed rib sabot (for the .452).
Best Wishes, Chap
