Encore Load
 

Im looking for good load for my new encore using 245gr power belt HP bullets. I prefer to use Triple 7. Anybody have any good lstarting points?

Good question. I was just about to post a similiar question regarding the 295 grain CVA powerbelts. I just got an Encore 209x50 right before all of the bad weather and haven' t had a chance to try loads in it yet. So, I was wondering what loads other people have used in their 209x50?

I forgot to mention that I will use pyrodex.

I tried them in my encore but didn' t have much results but a friend told me the other day that they shot good in his omega with 150 grs of pyrodex pellets.I only tried them with up to 130 grs.Maybe you want to try that.

I do not have any experience with Power belts, but I can attest to the quality and accuracy of the " Dead Center" bullet by Precision Rifle Bullet.
I currently use 3 pyrodex pellets and a 220 gr. Dead center and Winchester 209 primers. This load consistently groups 1 m.o.a. <1 ragged hole> @ 100 yds all day!
Never thought I' d see a ML do this!

I have tried the pb in 180,195,200,and 240grs (but didn' t get any groups this close.haven' t given up on them yet still have more bullets to try with different powder loads.) and the power belts in 225 gr.I did use the 40 to 50 cal sabots and the barnes 195 gr bullets to get these groups,shot six groups in a row and they all looked like this in the pic.
The knight pic was with a knight disc in 45 cal and 225 gr power belts,the others was a encore in 50 cal.
Tried to put the pic on just this reply but heck it comes up on all my replys,Now I got to find out how to take it off.

For what it' s worth, the 348gr Power Belt was the most accurate of the Power Belts in my Encore. I had good luck with 100-150grs of powder, behind this bullet.
I didn' t have much luck with the other weights, the accuracy was only average.
Finding what each and every rifle likes the best.
My pet load is the 289gr. Remington Copper Solid with 3, 50gr. Pyrodex Pellets. My 2nd choice is the 300gr. Barnes MZ.
The loads I work up for my guns are all on the heavy side. I don' t play around much with anything under 100grs. I want to maximize my effective shooting range by finding the most accurate/hardest hitting combination I can.
Even if I were shooting rats in a garbage dump, I' d be nailing them with all that I can get out of whatever gun I' m shooting at the time.
Good Luck with finding a load with your Encore. That' s more than half the fun of shooting muzzleloaders.
