T/C encore .50 cal. encore ..bushnell elite 3200 ..weaver grand slam base and rings ..for some reason can not get theML to shoot high enough ..i cranked the elevation screw all the way to the end ,and is 1" low at 100yds...do i need to shim ???? where and how much ..the windage is perfect...

I never was any good at shimming. The first thing I would try is switch the rings around. Sometimes that will be a quick fix. When I get a scope like that, I usually take it to a gunsmith and have them shim it for me.

no i can't switch the rings ...i have windage screws in the back ..

You need shims! Your rifle is pointing down from where the scope is looking.
Here's what I woukd try.
1) count your total elevation adjustments (clicks) and return adjustment to mid range. (May as well center windage adjustments too)
2) Acquire a ~0.010" thick brass sheet from a hardware store to make 1 or 2 shims (single or stacked).
3) Remove your barrel from the action and clamp it in a cleaning vise, or prop it securely on sand bags.
4) Sight directly through the barrel on a target about 50-75 yards away, and prop it so it remains on target.
5) Before removing the scope and base, note where the scope is pointing. (Probably way high).
6) Remove scope and loosen the base.
7) Now put a shim under the back end of the scope base and tighten up the base screws.
8) Re-install the lower half of the rings, and set your scope in the rings.
9) Prop your barrel so it is again pointing at the distant target
10) Your scope should be closer to "on target" now. If you are with in 4-6" from what your barrel is pointing at, you are done. If not, add or remove shims as needed. (May need to get / use a 0.006" shim). Also use you base windage screw to get scope & barrel close.
11) When satisfied, retighten / re-install base, scope & rings, using locktight sparingly.
12) Final scope adjustment: With barrel pointing @ target, adjust scope elevation & windage till barrel & scope are looking at the same picture.
13) At the range: with target at 50 yards, you should be very close.
I've used this proceedure a couple of times. Works great and easy once you understand the process.

thank u for the advice jascoesens i installed a 0.007 shim on the rear ring underneath the scope ,and it looks good ......as for oldrookie no thank-you no more spanish ML for me ..been there done it and not going back ..T/C all the way for me ...

update.....solved the problem ..removed the WEAVER GRAND SLAM base and rings ..installed LEUPOLD base and rings [end oh story] thanks to all that replied...

found out that WEAVER doesn't make GRAND SLAMsteel basefor the T/C encore or omega ...
