I've had one for over a year now but I still haven't shot it. I have friends who have them and swear by them.I don't know what charges they are using or projectiles.Incase you are interested a musket cap breech plug is available from Ruger for these . They are or were (at the time I bought mine) $25.00 including the breech plug wrench.Ruger Redhawk

I have had one for about 10 yrs or more. When I first got it,It had an 8lb triger,I tried to sell it in a want ads,but no takers,
After working the triger to 3 lbs,I wouldn't sell it.
I have and have had many muzzleloaders, but the ruger is the best so far, easier to clean ,take apart, and light to carry
I have had good results with 100 grs of cleanshot, and bullets from 180 to 300 grains.Have never had a misfire, and never missed a deer with it.
I shoot all year and what ever I like that year I will use for hunting that year. This past year I used the xtp 250,shoot a deer through the front, went through both shoulders, droped in its tracks at 75 yds.Blew a copper heads head clear off at 20 yds.
One fine muzzleloader
