Got the blue sabots
My blue sabots for .40 cal bullets came today. Went to Gander mtn picked up some 180 grn .40 cal Gold Dots. Got me a lb of 777. Gunna be shooting them out of my 24 inch barrel T/C omega X7. Im thinking 80 to 90 grain 777. What kinda velocity should I be getting. I dont have a chrono yet.
Also I took one of my 200 grain .358 rem corlocts & put it in the sabot. It wasnt very loose. I was thinking about wrapping a thin peice of plastic around the bullet & sliding into the sabot then load. What do ya think. Im working alot of overtime right now so I cant make it to the range. So I have all these Ideas floating around my head. What do ya think. |

So I have all these Ideas floating around my head. What do ya think. Sounds like you are hooked on muzzleloading. :D:D I have no idea what your velocity would be. It sounds like you have a great rifle and some good bullets and powder to try. Be sure to keep us posted. |

Good luck to you - I tried the 180 Gold Dots and could not get them to shoot accurately... Think they might be to short for a 1/28 twist. I really wish Spreer would make a 10mm 200 grain Gold Dot or even better a 220 grain Gold Dot. The Hornady 10mm/200 grain XTP flys great from a 1/28 and a 1/24 twist rate If they work for you I have 1/2 box of em - that you can use. mike |

RE: Got the blue sabots
The 180GD did not shoot with any accuracy in either the Omega or the Triumph, they do shoot in the 1-38 twist Systen One , the SW 200 gr and the 200gr 40 cal XTP shoot very well in the Omega and the Triumph but wont shoot well in the System One.Since my friends are coming up with similar results I see a pattern here. RE: Got the blue sabots
Well this isnt sounding very good. I ll run a few thru & see how they do. Maybe I ll try them in my NEF Huntsman too. I ll have to pick up some 200 grain xtps. If I ever make it to the range

RE: Got the blue sabots
I get 2050 fps with 100 grains and a 180 grain QT bullet. I think you’ll be around 1950 with 90gr. . You can wrap it but I think going from .4 to .358 will be too much. I have used scotch tape and paper to tighten up the fit on my savage. Generally the thicker the sabot, the less accurate, but this is just a general thing and each gun is different.

RE: Got the blue sabots
How fast were you guys pushing them. Im wondering if they were slowed down a bit, would make a differance. Like I said cant make it to the range for a couple more weeks. Yeah Im hooked;):D Jay
