like that pyrodex

Shot this 5 shot group this morning with the 21" green mountain barrel, 270gr. speer soft point, 80 gr. pyro. P at 50 yds. with out the scope. Spit patch between each shot, the one that went off to the left I had trouble with, i dropped the sabot down the barrel without the bullet and had to retrieve it. lost a littlepowder in the process. I haven't used pyrodex for quite some time but a lot of you guys are liking it so I thought I would give it a try again. Really like it now !!!

Good shooting there! I really like Pryodex as well dphobby. It's more consistant IMO than some other powders. But, every gun seems to have it's preference.

That is some very good shooting...

That little carbine of mine will really lay them in there as well. I have to shoot Goex out of mine since it is a flintlock. Pyrodex RS and P get a bad rap from a lot of people because if fowls so bad and is corrosive. Well when you have to swab between shots and you clean your rifle at the end of the day, what difference does that make? I personally like Pyrodex in a lot of my rifles. It is a very consistant powder, has excellent power, is not a sponge in damp weather, is very cost effective, especially when you can catch a Wal Mart end of the season sale, it is just a very good powder.. I also like the Pyrodex P as it is a little hotter, better velocity, does not fowl as bad as the RS, and works good with about any load...

Again, nice shooting. If you had a scope on that little carbine, think of what it would be able to do.. As already said, that load would be bad deer medicine..:D

i havent found pyrodex to be bad at all as far as corrosive.i was always told its less corrosive . the guns i have and my buddies who use black powder only suffer from acid rain type pot marks in the metal finish. even with somewhat good cleaning habits.
