too early to start scouting for deer
I was out scout for turkey where I normally hunt. spotted 8 deer. this is the same area I took my first deer. in the 8 I saw 2 little ones. the other where about the size of the one I took last season. I am going to try to keep track of them. it is not far from where I live.
looking like good so far. :D need to get some feeders made. |
RE: too early to start scouting for deer
You should take a shovel and some seed and make a few small food plots to keep their attention.

RE: too early to start scouting for deer
Started scouting 2 weeks ago. There still is some snow on the ground up here so it is nice to see how they have been patterning over the winter. Nice walk in the woods in the warm sun without any bugs. The deer were out just enjoying the sun also after the long winter. I walked by over a dozen deer with in 50 yards. They would just take a quick look and continue brousing. Beautiful animals. Even though we had a long and cold winter we didn't have tons of snow. Looks like they wintered well. Good to see.

Deer? What's that? The PGC has wiped them out in most areas here.

Never to early to scout and besides that it gives you a legitimate reason to do a little woodsrunning.
