X7 range report

Gun Omega X7
Powder JSG 110 grains by volume
bullets hornady XTP 250g
sabots crush rib.

Got on paper at 25 & 50 yards noticed recoil was stiffer on som of the shots. Nice groups with a flyerboth 25 & 50 yard
100yards 6 shots pruduced 2 1 1/2 to 2 inch groups. the problem is one shot would hit where I was aiming , next shot recoil would be severe shot would go 8 inches high 5 inches left. Same results over next 4 shots.I did every thing the same every time windex swab 2 dry swabs in between each shot. Recoil was so stiff I had to use my nose to absorb some recoil
from the scope. That kinda sucked. But I found out the range master keeps band-aids in his tower. on some shots recoil was like a 20guage slug gun , others were like 300winmag with a 5 lb rifle Im thinking different powder for next time. Now Im fairly new to the muzzleloading game ,But Ive been shooting for 20 years. Im adescent shot. Usually 1 1/2 to 2 inch kinda guy.Any thoughts , suggestions

I would try some different powders... While I have never shot JSG, I have shot a lot of APP and had some of the same results you describe.. where all is going good, and then BOOM a flier out of no where..

Try some Pyrodex RS or Triple Se7en 2f and see how the rifle behaves.. Otherwise it sounds like you have some good shooting going on there.

I've used JSG very little, but when I did I found it was extremely sensitive to bullet seating pressure. Seat the bullet loose- big boom and no accuracy. Seat it firm- smaller boom and better groups.

Were you shooting 2f or 3f JSG... I tried shooting some 2f the other day with mixed results...

I ll say one good thing about the JSG. It cleans up real easy. Thats really the only thing good I can say.

I used to use JSG 3f in my Omega. Every few shots i would say to myself....that was a lot lighter recoil...I switched to 777 ff. have more confidence in it. But like you said, JSG does clean up real easy.

I dont know how the JSG 2f could ever be consistant as course as it is. Doesnt surface area of the granules have something to do with burn rate.

APP 3f works great in the black powder revolvers... also the lighter loads in some of the traditional rifles seem to do well with it. Other then that, I like Goex..
