I want to get into muzzleloading shotguns so I checked out a Traditions Muzzleloadingshotgunand they want about $800.00 plus taxfor one new.
I have a Mosseberg Model 500AB pump gun that I would like to convert. The barrel I want to use is a 3 inch, 28 inch, 12 gauge with a full choke.
I was hoping there was a way I could convert theold barrel into a muzzleoader shotgun barrel. Mosseberg used to sell a muzzleloading rifle barrel for this model ofshotgun.
Would anybody have any idea how this could be accomplished.
The only problem I can see is there really is not enough metal in and aroundthe chamber to thread it, for a breach plug.
As for the choke, I would machine a jug choke - if enough metal.
Am I flogging a dead horse or can this be done.
Your thought would be appreciated.
Thanks,

You would probably be better off just buying the barrel for it for $92. Check the link.

$800 for a muzzleloading shotgun?
Pursuit pro is available with a shotgun barrel for around $300
CVA Optima/ Optima Pro/ Optima Elite are available with muzzleloading shotgun barrels.
Coverting your pump shotgun would be more trouble than its worth.
