Big Brown - Just Delieverd
Good Ole Brig Brown - right on time with the tracking schedule.... The Knight with a MHC fluted barrel has arrived...
Checked it over pretty good and the only thing I found that was out of the ordinary was on the front sight - right at the front edge of the fiberthere is a very small ding and the black is gone... easy fix... Second thing I noticed is the serial number of the barrel MHC XXXX seems like an awful low number for this late in the run of these barrels... kinda wonder what the story is on that. First impressions... I like the way it shoulders... I like the thickness of the stockunder the breech... for a 7# 14oz rifle it really does seem lighter - especially lighter than the White.... Opening the bolt is stiff but not as stiff as myA&H... longopen angle of pistol grip really feels comfortable... reminds me of the original pistol grip on an old Winchester Model 12... will change the ram rod and add a TC super jag.... Trigger pull short crisp and feels very good, probably 4#'s give or take... safety does not click off very loudly at all... The stock is solid... Removal of the trigger mech is simple... appears to be aBold trigger with a Knight nameon it. Barrel floats in the forearm to the rear of the flutes and them becomes tight to thebarrel and the action all the way to the rear... Removed the brrech plug andit has a cone shape vs the dome that i here some peoplereferring to... Oh! the bolt does slip in and out very easily Accesories in the box... some Knight black sabots and all lead bullets, 12 red disks, loadingtool - questionable how long they will last.... breeck plug tool...loading jag... allen wrench, and aInformational/Insturctional DVD.... One a couple small disappointments - only one recoil lug but it is welded to the barrel... second there iswee little bit of front/rear movement of the barreled action in the stock (with lug screw out), but I think this movement is also an easy fix with rearward shim in the lug pocket... also the rear sight is very loose on the barrel a little lock-tight and a screw driver will cure this problem. OK time to go clean it up... ![]() |

|
RE: Big Brown - Just Delieverd
Cdad
Permission - whut da meen? I am the boss in dis fam... but I did make a few deals... Cdad this is a good gun - feels good - handles good - now if it just shoots... we are coming over Thursday but I do not think I will be able to get out and shoot it over there and there is still to much snow here... |
RE: Big Brown - Just Delieverd
:DNice, makes me think ofa Remington 700 vermit rifle chambered for the 308 with the fluted barrel. What is that skinny shooting stick undre the barrel supposed to do?
Just how many knots ya got on yer head did ya git? Snow to deep? Are you crazy, put on some snow shoes and get with the break in progran for petes sake. :DI know ya got knots on the head if ya think the snow is to deep to shoot a new rifle. :) Al |

You would really like this gun... could make you forget about our 700ml's - IF IT WILL SHOOT AS WELL.... I thought bout snow shoes.. but I aint ready to test the knee dat much yet... I will be patient at least until I get back from Tri-Cities... |
RE: Big Brown - Just Delieverd
You'll need a decent ramrod though, Mike. That thang Knight provides is barely more thanjunk.

That is what I thought also... already replaced the existing ram rod. But I gotta tell you I realy like the feel of this gun. One thing I also have to find is this "domed" breech plug other people are talking about... when I look at the Knight site or midsouth I can only find the concave plug that came in the gun. Might end calling Knight... |
