Not A Bang Flop

This properly belongs in the hog section. Butthe hogwas killed with a muzzleloader. This hog was shot late yesterday afternoon.

Gun: CVA Staghorn
Powder: 2, 50 grain Pyrodex pellets
Bullet: .44 caliber 240 grain XTP in short black sabot
Primer: Winchester shotgun
Penetration: Neither bullet exited

Sow was shot from a distance of about 120 yards from a very good sitting positon ona dirt road. Shot was too far back-gutshot!!! When I heard the bullet hit I knew it was a bad shot.Makes me sick to do that.

Hog took off up the hill with a bunch of others. Found her standing 250 yards away on top the hill. She went down the other side of the hill for about 75 yards before I got a shot at her in the brush.

If you're going to drag a hog up hill do it before you are 69 years old.

:D:D:D

Good follow up Falcon. 120 yards from a sitting position ain't nothing to sneeze at.

Very nice pig... your stories and pictures sure put an urge in me to go and hunt hogs. Although home responsibilities still will not allow that at this time. When they do, I swear the first hunt I book will be a hog muzzleloader hunt...

I pulled enough of them rascals around of flat level floors (both alive and dead)and no matter how you pull, they are heavy. Up hill would not be something I would look forward to. You need a four wheeler.. :D:D

I have a CVA Staghorn Magnum in my collection and could not agree more.. good shooting rifle. Is your rifle scoped? I have a RED DOT on mine and it works pretty good at close ranges and great in low light shooting.

Nice pig. What did the recovered bullets look like?

"Is your rifle scoped?"

Yes, it is. The scope is a Nikon ProStaff 4x.

"What did the recovered bullets look like?"

Never recovered either bullet. Asked the butcher to keep them for me if he finds them.
