Shelf Life for No. 11 Caps

I have a couple of tins of caps for my TC Renegade. I haven't shot this rifle in quite and was wondering how long they are good for? When I say "quite a while", I'm talking years..:(I know there is no excuse, but.....[&o]

Really not sure - but I buy them by the box and I have had some for over five years - they shoot great... guess it is dependent on how they were stored...

When i bought my first MZler, I stocked up on #11's. That was 10 years ago. Still using them.

Thanks Sabotloader, They've been stored properly, cool dry place in an airtight container. I've just re-did the stock on her so I want to bring her out of retirement.

Ah Man! that is a beautiful gun... I am so partial to the Renegade... They are so darn functional.... Just a plane "git it done" gun.... Back when I was teaching American history I use to take in several different ML into the class room and have the kids load them with black pepper and a patched round ball... even the kids like the Renegades....

Do not fool with perfection and they were perfection...

I found an old tin of caps a while back in a possible bag that had to be pushing 10 years or more. They shot off fine. The way you're storing them, there should be no problem. I normally by my caps, 20 tins at a time so I have them all year.

That is a beautiful rifle you have there. Like Sabotloader, they are my favorite rifle. I guess that is why I own so many of them. I still want to convert one of mine to a flintlock and then get an big bore barrel for it... They are a great rifle. You did a wonderful job on your stock...

It was a kit rifle and the first time I had ever done a stock. I shellaced it and it looked like a shiny plastic thing. ugly!!!

Then I finally figured out how to do it properly with one of those Birchwood refinshing kits. I'm really pleased with the results.

Now, I just have to getout and shoot her. If I remember correctly she shot roundball really well for a 1:48. Maybe I'll try some Buffalo Ballets this time out.
