Homemade Bullet trap Success!
 

This is crazy! I took a 5lb coffee can, packed in sand from outside, set it up at 58 yards and took my cva bobcat loaded up with 70 grains pyro select, 295 grain HP powerbelt and started shooting. After 2 shots, i dumped the can and found TWO perfectly mushroomed powerbelts! On my third shot i hit the can really low and just skimmed it and couldnt find the bullet. Think its stuck in the log i had behind the can.

Cost $6 + you get to drink the coffee and then use the can.

My 12 year old nephew also took my deer creek .45 out and loaded it up with 30 grains pyro select and a homecast .440 PRB. He was goin nuts and having a blast. He was always scared of the rifle and thought it would kick lol.

Good idea FG.....but on any given day, I couldn't hitthe coffee can!

I made a trap out of 1/4 plywood filled with sand and set out to 100 yards..
The box was 3foot by 3foot and 18 inchs high..Put concret sand in it..
It would even stop the 537 grain bullets from my black powder cartridge
rifle,but not all of them..Woked out well..I left it behind when I moved though..

I'll probably put in a 1/4" thick steel plate in the back of the box just to make sure nothing goes through. I just need to sit down and come up with a plan on the final size i want. But i was shocked at how little sand it took to stop the bullet. I want to try 80-90 grain charges hopefully tomorrow and see how it does.

Thats interesting, I think I will make a bullet trap this summer or spring. thanks
