RE: 200 gn Hornady .40 XTP terminal performance in a .45... Graphic!
Those are one of my favorite ML bullets.Nice report, I've never recovered one. They seem to just keep on goin' for me.
I love the rifle by the way!! I bet you could carry that thing all day. |

BrushPopper, nice piggy! I also enjoy chasing those things around the desert. Yeah, locating them is the hardest thing. I've shot 3 of them - 2 with a Thompson Contender and one with ML - and the average shot distance has been between 80 and 100 yards.

How long is the barrel? Nice shooting. How far did you sight it in at? Chap Gleason

The barrel is cut down to about 19" and sighted-in for 50 yds.
Here's another "Shorty" pic. ![]() Not exactly a tack-driver, 50 yd groups run about3" for 5 shots, but I really made it up as a brush/truck gun and won't be taking any shots past about 75 yds with it. BP |

That's a SWEET little gun you have there! Very unusual- I can see how it could be very handy in the brush at short ranges. Congrats on the nice harvest too.
Good terminal performance with the XTP - I shoot the 200 grainer at about 1800 fps - I wouldn't recommend pushing it much faster than that. I get really good performance at 50 - 100 yards, but I've had one fragment on me with a point-blank 5 yard shot. |
